ABIGAIL ALBANO-PAYTON

Using her creativity from a young age, Abigail has since continued to use art to explore and make sense of the world that surrounds her. Over the years, as she gained experiences and witnessed others in their presence, she began to raise discussions on social and racial equity through her creations, whether they be visual or literary.  Her body of work ranges from large scale paintings of BIPOC experiences, to intimate multi-media representations of individuals who share the same struggles of disenfranchisement.

Through the use and re-appropriation of traditional skills to create pictures of modern scenes, Abigail is intrigued by the depiction of those who are underrepresented and dismissed. Inspired by others' presentations of themselves to society, she aims to create art that provides a homage for comfort, as well as raise questions about social class, race, culture, and identity while using representation as a tool.

Abigail is currently earning her BFA in Drawing and Painting with a minor in Graphic Design at Laguna College of Art and Design, Laguna Beach, California. She has been a featured artist in articles such as the OC Art Blog and LA Times, and has shown in galleries such as Salt Fine Art in Laguna Beach, California.
